​Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my practice.  I am a licensed psychologist with an established private practice helping individuals and couples in Atlanta for over thirty years.  

I graduated from Carleton College with a B.A. degree in Psychology and earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama.  I am married with two grown children. While I have a general practice, I also specialize in working with Depression and Anxiety, Relationship Problems and Marital Therapy, Wellness Enhancement/Stress Management, Sexual Addiction and Sexual Dysfunction.

As your therapist I share with you the resources of my extensive experience, specialized training, and effective, reliable methods for change.

Open and Direct - At the first therapy visit, the objective is to help you identify your needs and establish goals that fit you. If psychotherapy is appropriate for you, your involvement in the direction and pace of sessions is important to accomplishing therapy goals. The ultimate goal is to develop your personal resources and overcome any obstacles to emotional well-being and life satisfaction.

Therapy Style - I have been trained and have experience in many therapeutic approaches which I draw upon when working with clients to address each person's and each couple's unique situation.  Cognitive Behavior, Relational, Imago and Gottman therapeutic approaches are some of the evidence based treatments and scientifically developed therapies in which I have trained. For most clients I have found that an effective strategy for healing and lasting change involves working in two ways:  identifying underlying unhealthy patterns and understanding how and why they became established, while at the same time changing  actions and behaviors in the present to become more aligned with one's feelings and values. As a therapist I relate to clients with warm and compassionate guidance and direction supporting the process of healing and change.​
